Cosmetic Dentistry Q & A

What are the teeth whitening options?

At Greder Dental, you can choose from two different teeth whitening options: in-office and take-home systems.

In-office whitening

The in-office system offers immediate results, so it’s a great choice if you need whiter teeth for a big event — or if you’re just anxious to get results now. Instead of using a laser or other intense light in the whitening process, the in-office system uses a unique chemical combination to boost the effect of the bleaching agent.

Light-based whitening systems can dry your gums and cause serious discomfort, but the Greder Dental in-office system gives you the same great results without the light and its associated issues. In just one hourlong session at Greder Dental, you can lighten your teeth by several shades.

Take-home whitening

The take-home system at Greder Dental allows you to whiten your teeth comfortably at home. You get custom-made trays that fit your mouth perfectly, so you get optimal distribution of the professional-grade whitening gel. Take-home whitening is far superior to over-the-counter systems because you’re getting medical-grade products in your home.

Either teeth whitening option can give you a beautifully white smile.

What is dental bonding?

Dental bonding is a popular cosmetic dentistry option in which your Greder Dental dentist molds a tooth-colored composite material to your tooth to correct small imperfections.

You might get dental bonding if you have a chipped tooth, a gap between your teeth, or need minor tooth reshaping to look your best. Bonding is a great conservative approach, but for more serious changes you might need veneers or Lumineers.

How are veneers and Lumineers different?

Both traditional veneers and Lumineers are custom made porcelain shells that restore your teeth when you have damage like chips, cracks, oddly shaped teeth, gaps between your teeth, or mild crookedness.

The main difference between veneers and Lumineers is that your Greder Dental dentist removes a small layer of enamel to fix the veneers in place. Veneers are permanent, because you need to protect the tooth below.

Lumineers are thinner than traditional veneers, which means the dentist removes less tooth enamel to make room to attach them. Plus, the use of Lumineers is reversible. If you decide to return to your natural smile later, your dentist can remove the Lumineers with no problems.

Greder Dental offers other tooth restoration options, as well, including same-day CEREC® crowns. Book your appointment online or by calling Greder Dental now.
